What after an extended Covid 19 ¤

 WHO: Difficult decisions and limited options for fighting COVID-19 during influenza season

 The World Health Organization called for compliance with health guidelines with the aim of dismantling the chains of infection with the Coronavirus, eliminating Covid-19 disease and protecting health systems, in light of the high number of infections in the northern hemisphere.

 With the risk of a second wave of Covid-19 disease, Dr.  Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General to Joint Action and Solidarity: “It is another crucial moment for leaders to rise (to the level of responsibility) and another crucial moment for people to come together to achieve a common goal. Seize this opportunity, it is never too late.”

 Referring to the Corona virus and the influenza virus, Dr.  Maria Van Kerkhove, head of the WHO's technical team on Covid-19, expressed the similarity of symptoms between infection with the two viruses.  She said: "It is difficult to differentiate between the two viruses because the symptoms are the same," but she added that scientists do not yet know how things will unfold during the flu season.  "The good news about influenza is that we are ready for it," she said. "There is a vaccine for influenza, and we strongly urge those most at risk to get the vaccine this year."

دعت منظمة الصحة العالمية إلى الامتثال للإرشادات الصحية بهدف تفكيك سلاسل العدوى بفيروس كورونا، والقضاء على مرض كوفيد-19 وحماية النظم الصحية، في ظل ارتفاع عدد الإصابات في النصف الشمالي من الكرة الأرضية.

ومع مخاطر حدوث موجة ثانية من مرض كـوفيد-19، دعا د. تيدروس أدهانوم غيبرييسوس، مدير عام منظمة الصحة العالمية إلى العمل المشترك والتضامن: "إنها لحظة حاسمة أخرى للقادة للارتقاء (إلى مستوى المسؤولية) ولحظة حاسمة أخرى كي يجتمع الناس معا لتحقيق هدف مشترك. اغتنموا هذه الفرصة فلم يفت الأوان بعد".

وفي إشارة إلى فيروس كورونا وفيروس الإنفلونزا، تحدثت د. ماريا فان كيرخوف، رئيسة الفريق التقني المعني بكوفيد-19 في منظمة الصحة العالمية، عن تشابه الأعراض بين الإصابة بالفيروسين. وقالت: "من الصعب التفريق بين الفيروسين لأن الأعراض متماثلة"، ولكنها أضافت أن العلماء لا يعرفون بعد كيف ستتكشف الأمور خلال موسم الإنفلونزا. وأضافت تقول: "الأخبار الجيدة بالنسبة للإنفلونزا هي أننا مستعدون لها، فثمّة لقاح للإنفلونزا، ونحث بشدة أولئك الأكثر عرضة للخطر على الحصول على اللقاح هذا العام".
