خمسة أعضاء جدد لمحكمة العدل الدولية

أعلنت الجمعية العامة ومجلس الأمن الدولي انتخاب خمسة أعضاء جدد لمحكمة العدل الدولية، الجهاز القضائي الرئيسي للأمم المتحدة. وأعلن رئيس الجمعية العامة، فولكان بوزكير نتيجة التصويت الذي استمر ليومين.

وقال رئيس الجمعية العامة، عن التصويت الذي جرى بشكل متواز في الجمعية العامة ومجلس الأمن:

"حصل المرشحون الخمسة التالية أسماؤهم على الأغلبية المطلقة في الهيئتين: يوجي إيواساوا (اليابان)، جورج نولتي (ألمانيا)، جوليا سيبوتيندي (أوغندا)، بيتر تومكا (سلوفاكيا)، وهانكين شو (الصين). وبالتالي، أصبحوا أعضاء منتخبين في محكمة العدل الدولية، لمدة تسع سنوات تبدأ في السادس من شباط/فبراير 2021".

محكمة العدل الدولية تتألف من 15 قاضيا، وتتولى الفصل طبقا لأحكام القانون الدولي في النزاعات القانونية التي تنشأ بين الدول، وتقديم آراء استشارية بشأن المسائل القانونية التي قد تحيلها إليها أجهزة الأمم المتحدة ووكالاتها المتخصصة.

Five new members of the International Court of Justice

The General Assembly and the UN Security Council announced the election of five new members to the International Court of Justice, the main judicial organ of the United Nations. The President of the General Assembly, Volkan Bozkir, announced the result of the two-day vote.

 The President of the General Assembly said of the vote that took place in parallel in the General Assembly and the Security Council:

 The following five candidates obtained an absolute majority in the two bodies: Yuji Iwasawa (Japan), George Nolte (Germany), Julia Sebutinde (Uganda), Peter Tomka (Slovakia), and Hanken Shaw (China). Thus, they became elected members of the Court of Justice.  International, for a period of nine years, beginning on February 6, 2021. "

 The International Court of Justice consists of 15 judges, and is responsible for adjudicating in accordance with the provisions of international law in legal disputes that arise between states, and providing advisory opinions on legal issues that may be referred to it by the United Nations bodies and specialized agencies.
