متى سيجهز لقاح كوفيد-19؟
يستغرق تطوير لقاح آمن وفعال وقتاً. ويوجد حالياً ما يزيد على 200 لقاح مرشح قيد التطوير، والعديد منها قيد التجارب السريرية. ووصل عدد من هذه اللقاحات المرشحة المرحلة الثالثة من التجارب السريرية — وهي الخطوة الأخيرة قبل الترخيص باللقاح. وبالنظر إلى الجداول الزمنية المتسارعة التي يعمل أصحاب المصلحة العالميون استنادا إليها، نتوقع أن تكون بعض اللقاحات قد أكملت تجاربها السريرية وتمت الموافقة على استخدامها في عام 2021.

When will the Covid-19 vaccine be ready?
It takes time to develop a safe and effective vaccine. There are currently over 200 candidate vaccines in development, and many are in clinical trials. A number of these candidate vaccines have reached the third phase of clinical trials - the last step before licensing the vaccine. And given the accelerating timelines that global stakeholders are working on, we expect some vaccines to have completed their clinical trials and approved for use in 2021.
However, it is important to remember that the journey from developing a vaccine to licensing it, mass production and widespread use is one. Once the vaccine has the required license, it will be absolutely necessary to make it available in a timely and equitable manner, to those who need it most. This is where UNICEF and its partners come in.
